Pastry for Empanadas

Ingredients
  

  • 3 C All Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 C Shortening
  • 1 t Salt
  • 1/4 C Warm Water

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl combine flour, salt and shortening.  Slowly add water, just enough to form dough.  Knead until smooth and divide into 40 pieces.  Shape into balls.  Cover and let rest until ready to fill. 
    NOTE: This dough is specific for empanadas to be fried and does not do well when baking.
